Harewood Bird Garden: Bird Adoption
Overview | Bird Garden Guide | Conservation | Research | Bird Adoption
Today the wild has become a fragmented, and dangerous place for many species due to man’s impact on, and exploitation of the environment. Natural disasters and ecological factors also threaten the habitat of wild birds.
Harewood Bird Garden is trying to redress the balance now and you can help too!
By adopting a bird you help us meet the rising costs of running a bird garden. The Bird Garden is funded solely through the Harewood House Trust and there is always pressure on resources.
Whether you are a group, a company, or someone just looking for a worthwhile gift, it’s a great way of personally supporting our conservation work. All the money received goes to offset food bills and the cost of heating lighting and maintenance of the enclosures. From time we also buy items of essential equipment.
When you adopt a bird at Harewood you'll receive:
A welcome pack to introduce Harewood and the Bird Adoption Scheme
A plaque on the chosen bird’s enclosure display with adopter’s name and message
A certificate signed by Lord Harewood and the Bird Garden Curator
Twice-yearly ‘Stock Press’ newsletter providing news about the Bird Garden
A Summer Evening Bird Adopters’ Event
Knowledge that you have made a real contribution to the conservation of birds
Group adopters will in addition have a free group visit including an introductory talk
People have adopted birds to
Celebrate Birthdays, Christenings, Anniversaries, Their love for a partner, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Valentines Day, etc.
You could also commemorate a loved one, advertise your company or simply take the opportunity to learn more about conservation
