Breakfast Table
c.1770
The Earl & Countess of Harewood, & the Trustees of the Harewood House Trust

This mahogany breakfast table, with hinged flaps and drawer, corresponds very closely to a pattern illustrated in plate 33 of the Director (1754). It is also very similar to two other breakfast tables supplied by Thomas Chippendale for Dumfries House. There is no reference to this table either in Chippendale's bill or the 1795 inventory for Harewood House. However, the link with the Director and the Dumfries table suggests that it must have been made by Chippendale. It was probably supplied for either the family and guest rooms on the second floor or for Daniel Lascelles home at Goldsborough Hall.
