Pier Table
c.1772
The Earl & Countess of Harewood, & the Trustees of the Harewood House Trust

This pier table is not recorded in Chippendale's bill or in the Steward's Day Work Book, but it can be attributed to Chippendale on stylistic grounds, comparing it with other fully documented pieces made for Harewood House. The fan shape design in the marquetry work is a typical Chippendale motif, as are the swags of husks and stylised anthemion. The carved paterae found on the square tops of each of the legs is another motif regularly found on Chippendale's furniture.
