This pair of tables can be clearly identified in a document headed 'An account of money expended in furniture for the new House at Denton'. This document lists twelve tradesmen, including Chippendale who was paid £551. Although the itemised bills do not survive, the tables design with the ribboned and swags of husks and fan-shaped lunette of the marquetry top are extremely similar to those supplied by Chippendale for Harewood House.
The marquetry work is still in beautiful condition. The satinwod ground, crossbanded in tulipwood and inlaid with various woods retain much of their vibrancy and contrasting colours, whilst the pen work of the foliage and leaves can still be seen.
