Secretaire Library Bookcase

This mahogany secretaire bookcase was supplied to Sir Robert Burdett at Foremark Hall, Derbyshire. Although this piece is not mentioned in Sir Robert's accounts, large payments to Chippendale are recorded between 1766 and 1774. Stylistically it is comparable to many other documented pieces, including a pair of bookcases commissioned by Sir Lawrence Dundas in 1764 as well as a secretaire supplied to Nostell Priory in 1766.
