Two Stands
c.1771
The Earl & Countess of Harewood, & the Trustees of the Harewood House Trust

These two stands were supplied for the Saloon at Harewood and japanned blue and gold. They were designed to support two Chinese famille noire pot-pourri bowls supplied by Edwin Lascelles, as shown here. There is only one other known pair of stands by Chippendale, similarly designed to support Chinese bowls. They were made for Sir Rowland Winn at Nostell Priory and can still be seen there today.
