Collections at Harewood include Renaissance paintings, Chippendale furniture and work by Turner and Sir Joshua Reynolds. The gardens range from the formal to the lush and the bird garden is the focus for conservation programmes for endangered species including Bali Starlings.
The House, gardens, adventure playground and bird garden are a motivating environment for learning.

KS3 Activities
History (Year 9)
Unit - Britain 1750–1900

The resource of Below Stairs can be used as a starting point for discussions about trade and the Empire.

We are continuing to run workshop days led by specialist artists, writers and scientists connected to our current exhibitions. Contact us for details of upcoming workshops.

For details of previous workshops see The Original Openminds Project.

Art and Design (Year 7)
Unit 7B - What’s in a Building?

Use the outside of the House, All Saint’s Church and architectural details around the site as an inspiration and basis for artwork.

If you do not know Harewood you could take the 'virtual tour' in this web site. All teachers are invited to make a complimentary planning visit to Harewood. See planning your visit for details.

Would you like to pilot materials with your group? Do you have your own activities that have worked well here and you would like to share with other schools? Do you know the site well and have other suggestions? We'd love to hear from you. Please contact us to take this further.
