Welcome to Learning & Access

Harewood is a place of activity and lifelong learning, created by generations of architects, artists, designers, collectors, gardeners, and the people who have lived and worked here. It is a place for inspiration. We aim to promote the understanding and enjoyment of Harewood as a place of historic and contemporary interest.

Within this section you will find information for school groups from early years to sixth form, college and university students, and on professional development for teachers.

Use the education menu on the left hand side of this page to find what you need or download the Education Brochure at the bottom of this page. You can navigate by age group or by curriculum area. You can also click on the hotlinks in the text to go to more information about that subject. You might want to print pages from this site to help you plan your visit, or come back to the site to follow up a trip here.

Our education programme is supported by the Museums & Galleries Access Fund . This Heritage Lottery Fund supports museums and galleries which are developing innovative, exciting and imaginative approaches in making their collections accessible to the widest possible audience.

A note to children and young people
This site is written by adults, mainly for adults to use. Have you written or drawn something about Harewood? Send it to the Learning and Access Department if you want to share it with other children. We will put some of the work sent to us onto Education News area of this site.

Harewood House is pleased to welcome MAX Card holders.

MAX Card is the scheme offering looked after children and young people in Yorkshire and the Humber free entry to over 90 of the region's museums and galleries. Please bring your card and show it at Visitor Reception to gain free entry to Harewood.
