You are also likely to see Red Kites soaring overhead during your visit.

The Adventure Playground will be open so children can run, jump and climb to let off some after-lunch-steam as well!

With a large number of exhibitors who can provide you with ideas and inspiration for everything from corsages and flowers through to wedding cars, dresses and organisation.  All set in Yorkshire's top wedding venue - Harewood House.

You will be able to view the various venues at Harewood including the magnificent Pavilion with stunning views of Harewood House.

Throughout the day there will Bridal parades.

The event is being held in conjunction with Elegant Creations.

Back by popular demand!

After last years fantastic Tea Dance was such a great success, Harewood is hosting a family Tea Dance to celebrate St George’s Day this year. Join us for tea, cakes and dancing.

There'll be friendly dance enthusiasts on hand to take the lead and plenty of tea, jam tarts, cakes and butterfly buns for you to refuel between dances!

It will be a great day out and an opportunity to take a stroll in Harewood's Gardens before the event.

If arriving more than 1 hour before the start of the event a discounted grounds admission will be payable.

The course includes coffee on arrival, camera set up, focus and composition technique tuition as we work around the House & grounds.

After a sandwich lunch, we will look into more creative photography using aperture priority in the rose garden or on the terrace, followed by an exclusive opportunity to photograph in the House State Rooms.

Critiques regarding composition and technique will be carried out throughout the day to help you learn more effectively with a final coffee break and Q&A session.

The course is ideally suited to digital SLR users wishing to improve or learn landscape photographic techniques and a tripod would greatly enhance the learning process.

Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig is a lovable but slightly bossy little pig. She lives with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and her little brother, George.  Peppa is looking forward to coming to Harewood to jump in puddles with all her friends.

Fireman Sam

The hero of PontyPandy, is coming to Harewood to keep an eye on that young tearaway Norman Price and

make sure there are no fires, that hero is a very special fire fighter named Fireman Sam.

Noddy

Noddy loves Harewood and is back again in 2010.  He'll be coming in his little car to see all his loyal fans at Harewood.  Children will be able to sit in Noddy's car and meet him throughout the May Bank Holiday.

Family activities

There will be an extensive arrange of activities every day for all ages. There will be activity trails for the little ones, a shop for souvenirs of the characters, a fun fair suitable for younger visitors. 

The adventure playrgound will also be open to let off some more steam.

On The Day Prices

Melissa Gallimore, former Senior Curator of Decorative Arts at Harewood, will lead this tour of the ceramic collections on the State Floor followed by an illustrated lecture looking at how this stunning collection was formed. Includes admission and refreshments.

Explore the innovation of the honeybee!

Join the buzzing atmosphere Below Stairs to meet beekeepers, learn about the amazing processes of honey production, taste and buy different honey produce.

This event is part of National Honey Bee Week 2010.

The workshop provides an introduction to beekeeping including natural history of bees, hives and equipment, foraging, swarming, apiary sites, stings, diseases, hive products and processing.

Weather permitting there will be an opportunity to have some hands-on experience in our apiary in the Walled Garden here at Harewood.

Please wear loose fitting trousers (not jeans) and bring wellington boots to wear when visiting the apiary. Protective jacket, hat, veil and gloves will be provided. Please note: visit to the apiary may not be suitable for wheelchair users, contact the Box Office for further information.

The workshop provides an introduction to beekeeping including natural history of bees, hives and equipment, foraging, swarming, apiary sites, stings, diseases, hive products and processing.

This event is supported by the Council of Europe and UNESCO. In 2009, more than 2,500 museums in 41 European countries took part.

Museums at Night will take place during the weekend of Friday-Sunday 14-16 May and the Europe-wide celebration will be on Saturday May 15.

This year Harewood will be taking part for the very first time.

Join us for an evening experience of sparkling chandeliers, twinkling lights and special interest tours and workshops.

See the House lit up at night with fabulous landscape and sunset views from the Terrace with Red kites flying. Enjoy a drink in the evening sun on the Terrace. Meals and light bites will be available alfresco in the Courtyard. Twilight Tours of the House and Gardens. Recorded Servants’ tales playing throughout Below Stairs. Live piano music in the Music Room. Music on the Terrace/in the Terrace Café.

Parachuting Teddy Bears

Returning to Harewood this year by popular demand are Caroline and Jerry Swift with their team who will be operating two parachute rigs. Bring your brave bears to perform this certified parachute drop. The bears will be fitted with a suitable chute and hoisted high using one of Swift’s many kites. Through an ingenious release mechanism the bear then floats gently to earth.Volunteer bears receive a certificate noting their bravery.

There will be spectacular displays throughout the day from...

Wigsley Wings Kite Dsiplay Team - An eight person team who attend kite festivals around Europe and who have the largest selection of Monster kites that can be seen anywhere. They will be bringing to Harewood their collection of giant teddy Bears and other inflateables.

Skyartisits Kite Display Team - An eight person team who are the kite organisers of this event. They have a large collection of giant Kites from all corners of the world and some of which are made by team members and are unique.

Kite Collective - The Bindon family, Daz Smith, Karen George and Dave Holt (commentator) bring their fantastic selection of kites to Harewood.

The Lincoln Loonies - Team display of power and traction kites with buggying, boarding and man lifting from a kite, very dangerous...don’t try this at home!

Team4mation - From the north of England a Revolution quad trick stunt kite team who perform amazing sequence displays to music and invite you to attempt to fly one of their four line kites if you dare.

Dave Holt - Our commentator for this event is Dave Holt, a world renowed kite designer/maker and a member of Kite Collective (see above). Bringing to you his vast knowledge of kites through his commentary over both days at Harewood.

Graham Lockwood (One Man, 3 Kites) - Graham is one of only a few men in the world who can fly three stunt kites at the same time in ballet sequence to music, be amazed.

The Northern Kite Group - Many members with their wide variety of kites.

The North East Kite Fliers - Many members with their wide variety of kites including their unique European Air Gallery.

About the route

Set just south of the Yorkshire Dales, this is a beautiful walk through rolling countryside, along riverside paths and forest trails. As a Pink Ribbonwalk participant you gain free entry to the grounds of Harewood House, one of the Treasure Houses of England and explore some of the surrounding private land that you have exclusive access to. All your supporters will be offered discounted entry to the House and grounds.

Leaving Harewood House, walkers head south into Piper Wood before following a section of the Leeds Country Way. The 20 milers walk north through the picturesque estate with views over the Wharfe Valley. We pass the village of Harewood and follow the river valley through meadows and woods and join the Dales Way, then onto Eccup Reservoir.

Here, on the shores of the reservoir the 10 and 20 mile walkers meet and walk together for the rest of the route home through the village of Eccup, following the Dales Way trail and the quiet country lanes west of Harewood.

Back in the grounds of Harewood we finish this beautiful walk, by passing the main house and returning to our event village for a warm welcome.
